Summer days are over, and the weather finally starts to cool down. Fall is finally here and the best time of the year to relax outside and warm up with friends. Now it's time to pull out some bottles of red wine or mix some wine cocktails for fall. Here's a list of fall cocktail drinks filled with autumn flavors. 

Autumn Fig Sangria Recipe

Autumn Fig Sangria Recipe By Sugar & Cloth

Total prep time: 4 hours

Yield: 1 serving

What you need:

  • 1 bottle dry white wine (or fruit forward red wine)
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 0.25 cup apple brandy
  • 0.25 cup orange liqueur
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1 red apple sliced
  • 1 pear, sliced
  • 5 figs, sliced
  • 3 cinnamon sticks

How to mix:

  1. Into a pitcher, add ingredients and let infuse for 4 hours or preferable overnight in the fridge.
  2. To serve, pour into glasses with ice, unless using red wine then serve without ice.

What you need:

  • 4 oz. Lambrusco, chilled
  • 1 oz. Cappelletti Aperitivo, chilled
  • 2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
  • Garnish: lemon twist

How to mix:

  1. Into a Champagne flute, add the Lambrusco, Cappelletti and Peychaud’s bitters; stir gently to combine.
  2. Express the oil from a lemon twist over the glass and place the twist on the rim to garnish.

What you need:

  • 2 oz. Beaujolais nouveau wine (you may substitute another red wine)
  • 1 ½ oz. Laird’s straight bottled in bond apple brandy
  • ½ oz. Plymouth sloe gin
  • ¼ oz. grade B maple syrup
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters

Garnish: 

  • Apple slices
  • Grated cinnamon

How to mix:

  1. Into a mixing glass with ice, add the Beaujolais nouveau (or other red wine), Laird’s apple brandy, sloe gin, maple syrup and Angostura bitters and stir until well-chilled.
  2. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
  3. Garnish with thin apple slices and grated cinnamon.

What you need:

  • 4 hibiscus tea bags
  • 1 small cinnamon stick, smashed
  • 1 c. pomegranate juice
  • 1 c. spiced rum
  • 1/2 c. fresh navel or blood orange juice, plus slices for serving
  • 1 (750-milliliter) bottle prosecco or other sparkling wine, chilled
  • Pomegranate seeds, for serving

How to mix:

  1. In a large measuring cup, place tea bags and cinnamon sticks. Top with 1 cup boiling water; let steep for 5 minutes. Strain and cool to room temperature. 
  2. In a pitcher, mix tea, pomegranate juice, rum, and orange juice. Slowly stir in prosecco.
  3. Serve over ice with orange slices and pomegranate seeds.

Total prep time: 20 minutes

Yield: 12 servings

What you need:

  • 2 bottles of red wine, we used Mirassou Cabernet Sauvignon.
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 6 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 cups orange juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 cup brandy
  • 1 tsp brandy
  • ½ tsp. allspice
  • 1 fresh ginger slices from a 2" or 3" piece
  • 1 orange for zesting
  • 1 whole clove or whole allspice for garnishing

How to mix:

  1. Into a large pot, pour the red wine with the freshly squeezed orange juice.
  2. Add the spices, ginger, brown sugar, 4 cinnamon sticks, and orange zest and stir to dissolve the brown sugar. 
  3. Warm the combination over medium heat, but do not bring to a boil.
  4. Once evenly warmed and the sugar has dissolved, add the brandy, and reduce to very low heat to serve warm or remove from heat to transfer to a punch bowl to serve at room temperature depending on your preference.
  5. Garnish with remaining cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and orange zest.

What you need:

  • 1 (750-ml.) bottle chilled sparkling wine
  • 3 c. chilled pear nectar
  • 2 tbsp. orange bitters
  • Ice ring (optional)

How to mix:

  1. In a punch bowl, mix sparkling wine, pear nectar, and orange bitters. Top with an ice ring (optional). 
  2. Serve with strips of orange zest.
