Delicious Fall Snack Ideas

Fall is finally here! If you're looking for something delicious but easy to make, this list of fall snacks will make the season more fun without taking too much of your time. These treats are great for fall get-togethers, parties or simple lunches.   

Spiced Mix Nuts

A bowl of these spiced mix nuts is perfect when hosting a party or get-together. 

Here's what you need:

  • 1 cup almonds, unblanched
  • 1 cup pecans, halves
  • 1 cup unsalted, dry-roasted peanuts
  • 3 tbsp. melted butter
  • 4-1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic salt

Here's how to prepare it: 

  1. Mix all the nuts, almonds, pecans, and peanuts in a large bowl. 
  2. Mix butter and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl, then pour over the mixed nuts and toss to coat.
  3. In an ungreased baking pan (15x10x1-in), spread the spiced nuts in a single layer, and then bake at 300° for about 30 minutes until browned and stir occasionally.
  4. In a large bowl, transfer the warm nuts. 
  5. Mix the cayenne, chili powder, and garlic salt, then sprinkle over the warm nuts and toss to coat. 
  6. Serve warm, or if you want to store it, allow the nuts to cool before keeping in an airtight container.

Mustard Pretzels Nuggets

This fun snack is perfect for any events and gatherings. This delightful treat is similar to store-bought mustard pretzels, but you can save more.

Here's what you need:

  • 6 cups sourdough pretzel nuggets
  • 1/3 cup prepared mustard
  • 2 tbsps. honey
  • 1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 t tsp ground mustard
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

Here's how to make it:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°. 
  2. In a bowl, put the pretzels. 
  3. Mix remaining ingredients in another bowl. Drizzle over the pretzels, and toss to coat.
  4. In a greased 15x10-inch pan, spread the pretzels. 
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes until lightly browned and crisp. Stir every 5 minutes. 
  6. Place the baked pretzels in a pan or a wire rack, and let it cool completely. 
  7. Serve or store in an airtight container.

Cinnamon Chips with apple salsa

This sweet treat could be served as an appetizer, a snack or a dessert. 

Here's what you need:

For Chips:

  • 8 flour (7 or 8 inches) tortillas
  • 1 tbsp. water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp. ground cinnamon

For Salsa:

  1. 2 medium tart apples, chopped
  2. 1 cup strawberries, chopped
  3. 2 medium kiwifruits, peeled and chopped
  4. 1 small orange – to get 1-1/2 teaspoons and orange juice
  5. 2 tbsps. brown sugar
  6. 2 tbsps. apple jelly, melted

Here's how to prepare it:

For apple salsa: 

  1. Combine apples, strawberries, and kiwi in a bowl. 
  2. Add orange peel, juice. Brown sugar and jelly to fruits mixture. Stir.

For chips: 

  1. Brush tortillas lightly with water.
  2. Mix sugar and cinnamon, and sprinkle over tortillas. 
  3. Cut each tortilla into eight wedges. 
  4. On ungreased baking sheets, put in a single layer.
  5. Bake at 400° for 6-8 minutes until lightly browned. 
  6. Let it cool. 
  7. Serve with salsa.

Chewy Granola Bars

Each granola bar is a combination of sweet and crunch that you can freeze and snack anytime, anywhere.

Here's what you need:

  • 3 cups oats, old-fashioned
  • 2 cups puffed wheat cereal, unsweetened
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1/3 cup raisins
  • 1/3 cup miniature chocolate chips, semisweet
  • 1 tsp of baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Here's how to prepare it:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. 
  2. Mix all dry ingredients in a large bowl.
  3. Mix all liquid ingredients in a small bowl, and pour over the dry mixture and mix well to make it a sticky mixture.
  4. In a 13x9-inch baking pan coated with cooking spray, press the sticky mixture. 
  5. Bake 14-18 minutes until edges are lightly browned. 
  6. Place on a wire rack, and let it cool.
  7. Cut into bars.

Soft Chewy Pretzels

This snack requires a little more TLC, which is worth it because you're making your OWN pretzels! It's a fun and toasty snack. All you have to do is mix, shape, and bake, voila!

Here’s what you need: 

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup and 2 tbsps. water (70° to 80°)
  • 3 tbsps. brown sugar
  • 1-1/2 tsp. active dry yeast
  • 2 quarts water
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1 pinch coarse salt

Here’s how to make it:

  1. Put all the flour, 1 cup, and 2 tbsps. Water, brown sugar and active dry yeast in the bread machine pan. 
  2. Select the dough setting. After 5 minutes of mixing, check the dough, and then add 1 to 2 tbsps. Of water or flour if needed. 
  3. Put the dough onto a lightly floured surface after the cycle is completed. 
  4. Divide the dough into 8 balls and roll each into a 20-inch rope, and form into a pretzel shape.
  5. Preheat oven to 425°. 
  6. Bring water and baking soda to a boil in a large saucepan. 
  7. Drop 2 pretzels at a time into boiling water, and then boil for 10-15 seconds. Using a slotted spoon, remove from boiling water and place on a plate with paper towels to drain water.
  8. On a greased baking sheet, put all the pretzels. Bake 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Lightly brush the pretzels with water, and sprinkle with salt.
