- 3 cups oats, old-fashioned

Here’s what you need:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup and 2 tbsps. water (70° to 80°)
- 3 tbsps. brown sugar
- 1-1/2 tsp. active dry yeast
- 2 quarts water
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1 pinch coarse salt
Here’s how to make it:
- Put all the flour, 1 cup, and 2 tbsps. Water, brown sugar and active dry yeast in the bread machine pan.
- Select the dough setting. After 5 minutes of mixing, check the dough, and then add 1 to 2 tbsps. Of water or flour if needed.
- Put the dough onto a lightly floured surface after the cycle is completed.
- Divide the dough into 8 balls and roll each into a 20-inch rope, and form into a pretzel shape.
- Preheat oven to 425°.
- Bring water and baking soda to a boil in a large saucepan.
- Drop 2 pretzels at a time into boiling water, and then boil for 10-15 seconds. Using a slotted spoon, remove from boiling water and place on a plate with paper towels to drain water.
- On a greased baking sheet, put all the pretzels. Bake 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
- Lightly brush the pretzels with water, and sprinkle with salt.
