Cinco de Mayo (fifth of May) is a Mexican Holiday, but not a Mexican Independence Day. It commemorates a single battle, the Battle of Puebla or the victory of Mexican Army over France on May 5, 1862. In Mexico, Cinco de Mayo is quite a minor holiday, however in the United States of America, it has evolved into a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage, especially in regions with large Mexican-American populations.
Tequila is the king of this festive occasion. To celebrate Cinco de Mayo, delicious Mexican food recipes are also a must along with the best refreshing beverages and cocktails.
