Summer Fresh Cocktails to Celebrate the Season

Summer is the perfect time to spend time outdoors with your family like cooking up some barbecue or just relaxing by the pool or in the hammock with a cool beverage in hand, whether it's an ice-cold lemonade or a cocktail. There are plenty of refreshing summer cocktails to explore and to make you feel cool this summer. Try these boozy options that will surely beat the heat this season!

Best-Ever Michelada by Lena Abraham

Total Prep Time: 12 minutes

Yields: 1 cocktail

Here's what you need:

  • 1 tsp. salt 
  • 1 tsp. chili powder 
  • Lime wedges 
  • 2 oz. fresh lime juice 
  • 2 tsp. hot sauce 
  • Dash of soy sauce 
  • Ice 
  • 12 oz. light Mexican beer, such as Modelo or Tecate  

How to mix:

  1. In a shallow plate, add salt and chili powder and stir to combine. Rim the large serving glass with lime wedge and chili salt.
  2. In the serving glass, add lime juice, hot sauce, and soy sauce and stir to combine. Fill the glass with ice, then top with beer. Stir lightly, garnish with a lime wedge and serve.

Yields: 4 cocktails

Here's what you need:

  • 8 c. water
  • 3 3-inch strips Meyer lemon zest
  • 1 large bunch fresh mint
  • 5 tbsp. pure honey
  • sliced Meyer lemons, sliced strawberries, mint sprigs, for garnish

How to mix:

  1. Bring water to a boil. Remove from heat and add lemon zest and fresh mint; let it steep for 5 minutes.
  2. Add pure honey, stir until dissolved. Strain into a pitcher and let it cool. Serve over ice with sliced lemons, mint sprigs and strawberries.

Here's what you need:

  • 2 c. ice
  • 1/4 c. blue curaçao
  • 1 c. white rum
  • 2 c. lemonade
  • 4 lemon slices
  • 8 maraschino cherries

How to mix:

  1. In each glass, add ¼ cup, a splash of blue curaçao, ¼ cup rum, and another ¼ cup ice. (The ice helps with the ombré.) And pour over ½ cup lemonade.
  2. Skewer a lemon slice and 2 maraschino cherries on a paper umbrella or toothpick and garnish drinks before serving.
